Beinn Ghobhlach stands on the narrow peninsula between Little Loch Broom and Loch Broom, directly opposite Ullapool, and occupies a strikingly isolated position. Although modest in height, the hill’s steep sides and distinctive outline give it a more mountainous presence than its statistics suggest.

Owing to its coastal setting and lack of surrounding higher ground, Beinn Ghobhlach offers exceptional views in all directions. Little Loch Broom and Loch Broom are seen in full, with the Summer Isles offshore, the hills of Coigach and Assynt to the north, and the Fisherfield hills and An Teallach dominating the southern skyline.

The most commonly used approach begins from Badrallach, at the end of the public road on the southern side of the peninsula. A well-made track provides easy access along the coast before rougher, pathless terrain is encountered around the lochans below the hill. Higher up, various options present themselves.
