Meall Mhèinnidh is one of the prominent Corbetts of Letterewe, standing on the high ground between Loch Maree and the wild interior of Fisherfield. Its southern slopes rise gently above the loch, but the northern side is more rugged and broken by crags. The hill is defined by two high passes — Bealach Mhèinnidh, leading to Beinn Lair, and Strathan Buidhe, which links to Beinn Àirigh Chàrr.

From Poolewe, fine forestry and estate tracks head into Letterewe, giving access to the base of Meall Mhèinnidh, though the hill is most often included as part of a broader circuit over its neighbouring Corbetts.
