Nestled quietly behind the towering mass of Ben Wyvis and rising above the forested shores of Loch Glass, Meall Mòr is an unassuming yet rewarding hill in the Northern Highlands. Its gentle, rolling slopes are cloaked in heather and rough grasses, eventually giving way to a broad, open crest scarred with patches of peat-hag.

While it may lack the steep drama of some of its neighbours, Meall Mòr makes up for it with its sweeping sense of space and solitude. From its summit, the views are striking. To the west, Ben Wyvis dominates the skyline - a vast, imposing presence that feels close enough to touch. Looking north, the landscape stretches out toward the hills of Assynt and beyond, fading into the distant bulk of Ben Klibreck. It's a fine vantage point, offering a quiet but expansive perspective over the Northern Highlands.

Meall Mòr can be approached from either Glen Glass to the south or Loch Morie to the north. A network of estate and forestry tracks encircles much of the lower ground, providing useful access routes. From these, rougher forestry tracks climb up hillsides, offering a way onto the broad crest of Meall Mòr.

Once on the open plateau, some navigation is needed - especially in mist - as the terrain becomes wide and featureless. The final approach to the summit is helpfully marked by the remains of an old line of wooden fenceposts, which can be followed to the top.
