Beinn Dearg Mhor is the higher of the two prominent summits on Beinn Dearg in he Red Cuillin of Skye, the other being Beinn Dearg Mheadhonach. Characterised by dramatic fans of scree cascading from its flanks to the heather-clad slopes below, it presents a rugged and striking profile. Despite its impressive form, Beinn Dearg Mhor is overshadowed by neighbouring Glamaig, which rises higher and sits directly in front of it when viewed from the popular vantage point at Sligachan.
Although Beinn Dearg Mhor can be climbed directly from Sligachan, it sits between Marsco and Glamaig and a more enjoyable experience is to combine it with these nearby hills on a circular route of fine ridge-walking.
