Hart Fell is the highest point on a series of rolling bumps and hills above the Devil's Beeftub and the town of Moffat. Its most impressive feature is the glacial sculptured deep glen of Black Hope east of the the summit.

There are various routes to Hart Fell, including extending the Annandale way from the Devil's Beeftub. Most of these routes will see hikers aiming up Hart Fell on its own.

Hart Fell can be combined with White Coomb into one outing, either by approaching from Moffat Dale to the south or the Megget Stone to the north. On both of these approaches, following faint paths alongside fencelines is the order of the day.
